Getting Started

Advertising on Shout Street is a self-serve system handled off-site by Trafficspaces.com.

You can set up your own account and manage your ad campaign by yourself. When you first arrive at the Shout Street ad store at Trafficspaces, you must first create an account. You can sign in using several social network account logins, or by manually creating an account. Once the account is created, you may need to sign in again. If the 'Sign In' tab is showing, then you are not signed in yet.


After you are signed in, the first step is to select the ad zone as shown below, by clicking inside the box for the zone. There is only one zone, targeting will come later in the process.





Set up Your Ad

The ad zone is set up to accept a 728x90 image in either png, jpg, or gif formats. You can easily create your image using any image creation software, or you can use free websites that offer banner creation services. Search on 'free banner maker' or 'free banner creator' or 'free banner generator' for examples.



Your Target URL

Your 'Target URL' should be the home page of your website. Alternatively, you can create a link to a Google map that shows your location. Go to Google Maps and sign in using your Google account so that you can create and save your own maps. Then enter your complete address in the search bar. Set the zoom level of the map to show enough detail to find you. Save your map and then send the URL to yourself via email. Copy the link from the email and paste it into the 'Target URL' box (above).



How to Target by ZIP / Mail Code?

The Trafficspaces website uses a targeting feature called 'Keywords'. In order to target an ad to one or more ZIP / Mail Codes, you must enter each of them into the Keyword targeting box. After you have uploaded the banner, scroll down the ad creation page to '2. Targeting' and click on the 'A new audience' bullet, then the Keyword 'Edit' link.



That will open the keyword list box. Enter each ZIP / Mail Code where you want your ad to appear, separating each with a comma.




Then press the 'Save Changes' button and verify that the ZIP / Mail Codes are correctly listed. (Not using a comma to separate them will result in an error here.)



Now your ad is targeted to those ZIP / Mail Codes and you can complete the ad placement process.



What is CPM?

Ads at Shout Street are sold on a CPM basis. 'CPM' stands for 'cost per mille' which means 'cost per thousand views'. Once you've set up your ad, it will be displayed for the number of times that you've selected. Each time a page with your ad is loaded into someone's browser, that counts as a view. So, if you bought 1,000 views, that means that your ad will be loaded 1,000 times into the browser of the people seeing the page where your ad shows.
